What Fishermen Can Teach You About Job Searching

A couple of days ago, during my regular morning walk I noticed a fisherman in a small white boat and thought...

A fisherman is a lot like a job seeker sending out CVs. He prepares his net or fishing rod, chooses the right bait, then throws it in the water and waits patiently.

Boat on calm blue sea under a clear sky, with green grassy foreground. Sparse clouds add a serene mood. No visible text.

But here's the question - Are you the fisherman who throws all your bait in the same crowded spot where everyone else is fishing?

Or do you have your own secret places where the big fish swim — the ones others don’t even know about?

Do you just throw your net in the big sea and hope for the best?

Or do you know exactly how to prepare it better than anybody else, and where to throw it, so you catch not just any fish, but the ones that taste better?

Job searching is the same. It’s not just about sending tons of CVs and pressing Easy Apply button (btw, this is like sending your CV to the Moon in my opinion).

It's about where you send them, how you tailor your approach, and your willingness to explore those hidden waters that others overlook, but where real opportunities live.

So, which fisherman are you? 🎣
