Think about how many people a hairdresser sees in a single day.

And you’ve probably noticed how much people LOVE to talk once they’re in that chair 💇‍♀️.

From my experience living abroad, I realised that if your hairdresser is loved by other expats, they also know a lot about the local expat scene, events, and opportunities.

Same goes for a bar or a local café ☕️.

People love telling bartenders everything. Trust me — I worked in one of the busiest ones in Seville. And between the breakups and the gossip, you also hear about their new projects.

The hidden job market isn’t hidden because it’s secret. It’s hidden because it lives in conversations, not job postings.

Nobody posts “we might be hiring someone in three months” on LinkedIn. But they’ll mention it to the person cutting their hair, or the bartender who’s poured their drink every Friday for a year.

- You just need to become a regular.

- Have a conversation instead of staying quiet.

- And obviously more doors open if you speak the local language.
